Her initial inspiration was shadows reflected on grass. After a few weeks she came up with a technique that didn't create the object she chose on the canvas as an image that was flat. If the object is alive or perishable, such as humans and fruits, they become a painting of them. Alexa Meade's work is ephemeral however the photograph is left. Trompe l'oeil can be achieved through the combination of two methods of photography and painting. This creates a flattened, two dimensional photograph. Meade sometimes integrates her paintings into the 3-dimensional world that surrounds them. They interact within the self-created world. This way, the line between photography and painting is dissolved.
